WOLVERINES TAKE DOWN HAPPY, 58-36, FOR BI-DISTRICT TROPHY

The Springlake-Earth Wolverines’ varsity basketball team took down Happy at Canyon Randall on Tuesday, 58-36, to claim the 1A Bi-District Championship.

With the win, the Wolverines improve to 20-7 overall on the season.

It was a tight game early-on, as Springlake-Earth clinged to a, 10-9, lead after the first quarter. They added 16 points in the second frame to take a, 26-15, lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Wolverines opened the second half with a 21-point third quarter, making the score, 47-28, going into the final quarter of play. They outscored the Cowboys, 11-8, in the fourth quarter to take the contest, 58- 36.

Evan DeLeon led the team in scoring with 17 points, while Kaden Castillo joined him in double-figures scoring with 13 points. JJ Jaramillo tallied eight points, while Keshan Holmes chipped in seven points, and Trace Goodman contributed six points.

Alex Alvarez added five points, while Josh Samaron finished with two points in the contest.

The Wolverines played Silverton at Randall High School on Friday for the 1A Area Championship. Results were not available at press time.
