The Sudan Hornets’ varsity basketball team split their last two district contests, taking down the Morton Indians last Friday, before falling to the Seagraves Eagles this past Tuesday.
Sudan downed Morton last Friday, 75-45, to earn their first district win of the season.
It was a tightly contested game early-on, as Sudan held a 13-11, lead entering quarter number two. The Hornets offense would be ignited in the second frame, as they poured in 21 points to extend their lead to, 34-17, going into the locker room at halftime.
They added 24 points in the third quarter and 17 points in the fourth quarter to take the contest, 75-45.
Michael Limon led the team in scoring with 26 points, while Anthony Rodriguez tallied 16 points, Jordie Bellar added 12 points and Abram Rodriguez finished with 10 points.
Sal Juarez tallied seven points, while Trent Wilson added four points and Tony Limon finished with two points in the contest.
Against Seagraves on Tuesday, the Hornets led the Eagles, 13-11, after the first quarter, but in the second frame, Seagraves outscored Sudan, 10-4, to take a, 21-17, lead into the locker room at halftime.
In the third quarter, Seagraves edged out the Hornets, 16-14, but in the final quarter, the Eagles outscored the Hornets, 15-9, as Sudan fell to the Eagles, 52-40.
Michael Limon led the team in scoring for this game with 24 points, while Wilson tallied six points, Bellar and Juarez each added four points and Josh Cervera finished with two points.
The Hornets were at Plains on Friday to take on the Cowboys. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season next Friday when they host the Sundown Roughnecks.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
