The Springlake-Earth Wolverines’ varsity basketball team added another district victory to the win column on Tuesday as they took down Kress on the road, 68-41.
With the win, the Wolverines improve to 11-6 overall, 4-0 in district play.
The Wolverines jumped out to an, 18-11, lead in the first quarter and outscored the Kangaroos, 14- 11, in quarter number two to take a 10-point lead, 32-22, into the locker room at halftime.
Springlake-Earth poured in 19 points to open the second half, while holding Kress to just five points, extending their lead to, 51- 27, heading into the final quarter of play. In the final frame, they outscored Kress, 17-14, to take the contest, 68-41.
Kaden Castillo tallied 29 points to lead the team, while Micah Sanchez joined him in double-figures scoring with 12 points and JJ Jaramillo added 10 points.
Evan DeLeon chipped in nine points, while Josh Samaron tallied four points and Alex Alvarez and Trace Goodman each finished with two points.
The Wolverines were at Amherst on Friday. Results were not available at press time. They will be back in action next Friday at Cotton Center.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
