The Littlefield Wildcats’varsity football teamp pushing their winning streak to four games, after taking down the Frenship Memorial Panthers, 42-14, at Wildcat Stadium on Friday night.
With the win, the Wildcats improve to 4-0 overall on the year.
In the opening quarter, quarterback, Sammy Saenz, connected with Jayden Barrio for a 14-yard touchdown pass to put them up, 7-0, after the PAT from Barrio. Saenz would punch in a three-yard touhchdown run later in the quarter to stretch the lead to, 14-0, after the PAT from Barrio.
However, in the second frame, the Panthers would strike back, as they scored a 47-yard touchdown through the air and a three-yard touchdown on the ground to make the score, 14-14, going into the locker room at halftime.
In the third quarter, Saenz scored on an 18-yard touchdown run, but the PAT was no good, leaving the score, 20-14. Later in the third quarter, Saenz would find Jacob Fuentes on a 58-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion run by Saenz was good, pushing the lead out to, 28-14.
In the fourth quarter, Saenz would score on a seven-yard touchdown run, and Blayton Soliz added a four-yard touchdown run, as Littlefield went on to take down Frenship Memorial, 42-14.
The Wildcats totaled 451 yards of offense, including 297 yards rushing and 154 yards passing.
Offensively, Saenz finished 12-26 passing for 154 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also added 16 carries for 126 yards and three scores.
In the rushing attack, Soliz tallied nine carries for 91 yards and a score, while Daniel Rojas added 10 carries for 69 yards.
In the passing game, Fuentes led with two catches for 64 yards and one score, while Barrio added five catches for 56 yards and one touchdown. Soliz added two catches for 16 yards and Gabe Matta added two catches for 11 yards.
The Wildcats will be at Brownfield on Friday to take on the Cubs.
Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
