Olton Mustangs drops Bidistrict series to New Home, 2-0

The Olton Mustangs’ varsity baseball team saw their season come to a close on Thursday in Littlefield, as they dropped a three-game series to the New Home Leopards in the Class 2A- DI Bi- district round of the playoffs, 2- 0.

In game one, New Home jumped out in front early, scoring one run in the top of the first inning, three runs in the top of the third and two in the top of the fourth, before exploding to outscore the Mustangs in the sixth inning, 10-1, taking game one of the series, 16-1.

Jett Tomsu pitched 5.1 innings for the Mustangs, giving up 11 hits, four walks and 12 runs, nine earned, while striking out two batters. Paytn Jimenez pitched 0.2 innings, giving up four hits, one walk and four runs in the contest.

In game two, the Mustangs never got going, as they managed just three hits in the contest, falling to the Leopards, 27-0.

New Home got off to a quick start in game two, scratching 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning. They added 13 runs in the bottom of the third and four runs in the bottom of the fourth en route to the victory.

Victor Reyes pitched 0.2 innings for the Mustangs, giving up eight hits, one walk and nine runs, while Dax Light pitched two innings, giving up 14 hits, one walk and 14 runs, while striking out one batter. Fabian Gutierrez pitched 0.1 innings, earning one strikeout, while Jaxon Tomsu pitched one inning giving up four hits, two walks and four runs, while earning one strikeout.
