Hornets go 1-2 at Ralls baseball Tournament

The Sudan Hornets’ varsity baseball team was at the Ralls Tournament this past weekend, where they went 1-2 on the weekend.

They improve to 4-4 overall on the year.

In their first game of the Tournament on Thursday, the Hornets took down Trinity Christians’ JV, 16-2.

At the plate, the Hornets tallied 19 walks and 11 stolen bases as a team, while Cal Carter was 1-2 for the Hornets, and Kooper Edwards, Haden Provence, Carter and Caleb Groetken each drove in a run.

On the mound, Carter pitched four innings, giving up four hits, one walk and two runs, while striking out eight batters.

In game two of the tournament, the Hornets fell to the Morton Indians on Friday, 9-1.

On the mound, Haden Provence pitched 3.2 innings, giving up four hits, two walks and six runs, while striking out seven.

At the plate, Aybran Granados and Julian Salas each recorded a hit for Sudan.

In their final game of the Ralls Tournament, the Hornets fell to Sundown, 5-0.

On the mound, Groetken pitched 4.1 innings, giving up seven walks and five runs, three earned, while striking out nine batters.
