Hornets go 0-3 at Wildcat Classic

The Sudan Hornets’ varsity basketball team had a tough outing at the 33rd annual Wildcat Classic last weekend in Littlefield, where they went 0-3 on the weekend.

In their tournament-opener Friday morning, the Hornets fell to the New Home Leopards, 75-41.

They were led by Jaibryn Ornelas, who tallied 27 points, eight rebounds, six steals and one assist, while Brian Delgado chipped in three points and three rebounds and Jacob Baker added three points, thee rebounds and one steal.

Aspen Reyher contributed two points, two rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block, while Marcello King chipped in two points and two rebounds, and Slade Nichols added two points, two rebounds and one assist. Andrew Larson finished with two points and one rebound.

In their second game on Friday, the Hornets fell to the Whiteface Antelopes, 58-34.

Ornelas led the way with 22 points, seven rebounds, three steals, one assist and one block, while Brian Delgado tallied five points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal, and Reyher contributed three points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.

Baker added two points, three rebounds and one steal, while Nichols finished with two points, two blocks, one rebound and one steal.

In their last game of the tournament on Saturday, the Hornets came up short against Portales, falling to the Rams, 82-36.

Ornelas poured in 17 points, to go along with eight rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block. Reyher joined him in double-figures scoring with 12 points, five steals, two rebounds, two assists and two blocks, while Brian Delgado added four points and two steals and Nichols finished with three points in the contest.
