The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity softball team went 3-0 on the weekend at the Tahoka Tournament.
With the wins, the Lady Cats improve to 4-1 overall on the year.
In their tournament-opener, the Lady Cats took down Lubbock Cooper’s JV, 16-14.
The Lady Cats jumped out in front early, pushing 11 runs across in the top of the first inning. The Lady Pirates would scratch three runs across in the bottom half of the inning, making the score, 11-3, going to the top of the second.
Lubbock- Cooper would outscore the Lady Cats, 4-2, in the second inning and, 7-3, in the third inning, but it was not enough, as the Lady Cats held on for the victory.
Lyric Rios pitched 0.1 innings for Littlefield giving up one hit, while Cali Saldana pitched 2.2 innings, givning up 13 hits, one walk and 14 runs, six earned in the contest.
At the plate, the Lady Cats totaled 10 hits as a team.
Bryndle Ray tallied four RBI’s, one walk and two hits including a double, while Audrey McKinnon tallied three RBI’s and one hit, and Brianna Aleman finished with two RBI’s, one walk and one hit.
In game two on Thursday against O’Donnell, the Lady Cats shut out the Lady Eagles, 15-0.
Littlefield jumped out in front early and never looked back, as they scored 14 runs in the first inning and one in the top of the second inning en route to the victory.
Natalia Sanchez pitched three innings for the Lady Cats, earning seven strikeouts, while giving up just one walk.
The Lady Cats tallied 16 hits as a team.
Myli Hernandez tallied three RBI’s, one walk and two hits including a homerun. Sanchez chipped in three RBI’s and three hits, while Alyssa Torres contributed two RBI’s and three hits including a triple. Aleman added two RBI’s and two hits including a triple, while Rios tallied two RBI’s and two hits including a double, and Saldana added two RBI’s and two hits including a double. Taryn Golden finished with one walk and two hits including a triple. In their last game of the tournament on Friday, the Lady Cats took down the Roosevelt Lady Eagles, 9-1.
The Lady Cats jumped out to a, 3-0, lead in the first inning, before both teams went scorless through the second frame. Littlefield was able to push four runs across in the top of the third inning, making the score, 7-0, going into the fourth inning.
Both team tallied one run in the fourth inning and Littlefield added a run in the top of the fifth inning to take the contest, 9-1.
In the circle, Sanchez threw five innings, giving up five hits, one walk and one run, while earning six strikeouts.
At the plate, Golden tallied two RBI’s and two hits including a homerun and a triple. Rios chipped in two RBI’s and one hit including a double, while Sanchez notched one RBI, one walk and two hits including a double and a triple. Aleman added one RBI and two hits including a double and a triple, while Ray tallied one RBI and one hit and Brinley Acevedo finished with one RBI and one hit as well.
The Lady Cats hosted Tulia on Tuesday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Thursday when they begin play at the Floydada Tournament.
