The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team throttle the Lockney Lady Horns on Tuesday, 96-32, behind a record setting performance from Blessy Montes, who knocked down 13 threes to break the school’s single-game record.
With the win, the Nettes improve to 18-6 overall, 6-2 in district play.
The Nettes flew out of the gates on fire, outscoring Lockney, 28-9, in the opening quarter. They erupted in the second frame for 39 points, pushing the lead to, 67-11, going into the locker room at halftime.
The Nettes outscored the Lady Horns, 10-7, in the third quarter, and 19-5, in the final frame to take the contest, 96-32, sweeping the season series with Lockney.
Montes led the Nettes with 39 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals, while Melo Rodriguez tallied 15 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and five steals, and Edette Herrera contributed 11 points, eight rebounds, seven steals and three assists. Emry Humphreys chipped in 10 points, five rebounds and four steals.
Addison Cornelius chipped in nine points, six rebounds, one assist and one steal, while Haylee Toscano tallied eight points, seven assists, five steals and two rebounds, and Kaileigh Greenwalt added four points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals. Erica Herrera finished with seven rebounds, one assist and one steal.
The Nettes hosted Floydada on Friday for their second meeting of the season with the Lady Wind. Results were not available at press time. They will continue district play on Tuesday with a road game against Ralls.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
