The Sudan Hornets’ varsity football team was well represented on the 2023 District 2-2A Post-season honors lists.
Senior quarterback, Trent Wilson was named the District’s Offensive MVP, while wide receivier, Jaibryn Ornales, was named the Newcomer of the Year. Jonathan Conley earned the Lineman of the Year Award.
First team All-District selections were headlined by Matthew Lopez, who was a unanimous 1st Team All-District Defensive Lineman selection. Salvador Juarez was named 1st Team All-District Utility Player, while Jaden Conley earned 1st Team All-District Offensive Lineman.
Marcello King earned 1st Team All-District RB/DB, while Alan Flores was named 1st Team All-District wide Receiver, and Caleb Groetken also earned 1st Team All-District wide receiver.
Second Team All-District selections were Jaden Conley, who earned 2nd Team All-District linebacker, King, who earned 2nd Team All-District Punter, Flores, who was named 2nd Team All-District linebacker and Joel Williams, who earned 2nd Team All-District defensive lineman.
Derek Rosa was named 2nd Team All-District defensive lineman, while Tony Vargas earned 2nd Team All-District defensive back and Kincaid Boehning earned 2nd Team All-District outside linebacker. Braxtyn Harrell earned 2nd Team All- District wide receiver, while Abel Armendariz earned 2nd Team All-District offensive lineman.
Those who earned honorable mention were, linebacker, Kasen Kauffman, offensive lineman, Julian Salas, defensive lineman, Gabriel Lopez and defensive lineman, Andrew Larson.
Academic All-District selections included: Eduardo Estrada, Salvador Juarez, Tony Vargas, Trent Wilson, Jon Conley, Braxtyn Harrell, Zayne Humphreys, Kasen Kauffman, Marcello King, Jaibryn Ornales, Kincaid Boehning, Aybran Granados, Caleb Groetken, Gabriel Lopez, Erica Herrera, Kaileigh Greenwalt and Haylee Toscano.
