The Littlefield Wildcat and Lady Cats’ varsity cross country teams competed at the district 3-3A Cross Country Meet on Tuesday, where the Wildcats finished as the District Runner-ups with 72 points.
This Wildcat cross country team becomes the first boy’s team from Littlefield to qualify for Regionals as a team since the 2009 season.
The Wildcats were led by senior, Omar Martinez, who placed fifth overall, clocking a time of 18:45.66. Sophomore, Ramiro Candelario, also finished in the top 10 placing ninth overall, clocking a time of 19:05.43.
Senior, Braedy Saenz, finished 12th overall with a time of 19:29.46, while junior, Cesar Garcia, finished 18th with a time of 20:21.63, and junior, Brandon Marines finished 28th with a time of 21:52.81. Freshman, Anastasio Ayala, finished 34th with a time of 22:59.73, while senior, Isaiah Rodriguez, finished 36th with a time of 23:25.11.
The Lady Cats were led by junior, Brinley Acevedo, who finished 20th with a time of 15:29.37, while junior, Arianna Castillo finished 28th with a time of 15:55.92, and senior, Jazmine Rosales, finished 33rd with a time of 16:24.87.
The Wildcats will run at the 3A Regional Cross Country Meet on Monday Oct. 23rd at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.
