Potato breeding field day set July 18 near Springlake

The annual Texas A&M Potato Breeding Program Field Day, hosted by Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Bruce Barrett Farms, will be July 18. No registration is required for the free program.

United Supermarket of Littlefield supports Workforce Solutions South Plains Earn & Learn Program

The Texas Workforce Com-mission’s Earn & Learn Program for young adults with disabilities had faced no businesses in Littlefield willing to participate. But then they contacted the United Supermarket of Littlefield who stepped up.

Adopting of the use of cover crops is growing. Growers who plant covers recommend planning at least one season ahead. With fall planting around the corner, now is the time to get serious regarding cover crop planning. There are many goals we can strive to achieve with cover crops.

West Plains IPM Update: Crop and Pest Update

Cotton ranges from 4 leaf stage to 13 true leaves with square set good at +90%. As of today, I have not seen any blooms. I do anticipate seeing blooming fields by July 18th. I am basing this on the fact that our most mature field in the scouting program has 5 first position squares.

News Writer The City of Amherst is seeking help to fill a big hole at the city park. The existing park playground equipment was determined unsafe and had to be torn down leaving a marked absence of activity for the young people of Amherst.
