Amherst to Celebrate 100 Years on July 29

Amherst is gearing up for their annual celebration on Saturday, July 29, 2023. This year the community is celebrating their Centennial. The city has released the schedule for the celebration. The Parade down Main Street will begin at 10 a.m. The Park Celebration will begin at 11 a.m.

O.H. Ivie named 2023’s Best Bass Lake

Things really are bigger in Texas and that includes the bass coming out of O.H. Ivie Lake, which claims the coveted spot atop the 2023 Bassmaster Magazine 100 Best Bass Lakes standings for the first time in history.

State Capital Tax-relief plan headed to governor Proponents are calling it the “biggest property tax cut in Texas history.” Both chambers of the Texas Legislature passed an $18 billion package during the second special session, the Austin American- Statesman reported.

Commissioners hold regular meeting Monday

The Commissioner’s Court of Lamb County met in regular session on Monday, July 17th at the Lamb County Courthouse to discuss a seven-item agenda. Lamb County Judge James DeLoach called the meeting to order at 9 a.m. and no requested to comment during public forum.

Construction was completed on the awnings for Wildcat Baseball Field last week. Each field received new awnings over the bleachers. The work was done by Montes Steel Buildings.
The Litttlefield Martial Arts Academy held sign-ups on Thursday, July 14, 2023. The class participants were assigned to classes according to age, measured for uniforms and received their Martial Arts Academy T-shirts. Due to flooding in the storage building the floor mats were damaged beyond restoration. They are seeking donations to replace the necessary equipment. (Photo by Ann Reagan)

Wright Collision Center to Celebrate 50 Years on Saturday

Wright Collision Center of Littlefield will be celebrating 50 years of service on Saturday, July 22nd, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a special performance by “Clock Struck 9”, and the event is free to the community. There will also be a mechanical bull, inflatables, hot dogs and giveaways.
