With week six of the Lamb County Leader-New’s annual football contest in the books, our contest is just past the halfway point. This week, Jan Smith and Ronnie Martin tied for the top spot each going 17-3.

The Amherst Lady Bulldogs’ varsity cross country teams competed at the Oil Patch Invitational in Sundown on Saturday. They were led by Dennys Reyes, who finished 44th overall with a time of 16:06.56.

The Springlake-Earth Lady Wolverines’ varsity and JV cross country teams competed at the Oil Patch Invitational in Sundown on Saturday, where the varsity finished fourth overall out of 11 teams. They were led by senior, Taytum Goodman, who placed first over-all, clocking a time of 12:19.27.

The Sudan Hornet and Nettes’ junior high cross country teams competed at the Oil Patch Invitational in Sundown on Saturday. On the boy’s side, Miles Ledbetter led the Hornets placing 15th overall, clocking a time of 13:56.39.

The Springlake-Earth junior high cross country teams competed at the Oil Patch Invitational in Sundown on Saturday. On the girl’s side, Amethyst Huerta placed eighth overall, clocking a time of 15:23.37.

The Olton Mustangs’ varsity football team celebrated homecoming on Friday with a, 52-21, victory over the Vega Longhorns at Mustang Stadium to close out the pre-district schedule. With the win, the Mustangs improve to 4-1 overall on the season.

The Olton Colt and Fillies’ varsity cross country team competed at the Oil Patch Invitational in Sundown on Saturday. On the girl’s side, Xavery Arredondo finished 12th overall with a time of 15:40.56, while Gabriella Reyes finished 19th overall with a time of 15:49.85.

The Littlefield Wildcat and Lady Cat’ varsity and JV cross country teams competed at the Oil Patch Invitational in Sundown on Saturday, where the Wildcats placed seventh overall as a team. On the boy’s side, th Wildcats were led by Ramiro Candelario, who placed 17th overall with a time of 19:47.33.
