FIRST PLACE – Springlake-Earth sophomore, Kani Holmes and freshman, Taytum Goodman, placed first at the LCU Ruster Buster Relays this past weekend, as the Lady Wolverines opened their cross country season.

The Amherst Bulldogs’ varsity football team got things started on the right foot on Friday, with a, 60-36, victory over Lubbock Home School. With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 1-0 overall to open the season.

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity volleyball team had their first match on Saturday since having to go into quarantine for two weeks. They fell to the Post Lady Lopes in five sets, 2-3.

Most high school football teams around the state made it through the first week of their season this past Thursday and Friday and with that, came our first of the annual Lamb County Leader-News Football Contest.

The Anton Bulldogs’ varsity football team had their lone scrimmage last week on the road with Nazareth. This week they set their sights on their season-opener, as they travel to Silverton to take on the Owls.

The Littlefield Wildcats scrimmaged the Snyder Tigers at Wildcat Stadium last week, as they looked to fine tune things for the season-opener this Friday with the Dimmitt Bobcats. Head Coach Brent Green have his assessment of his team in the scrimmage, saying, “I thought it was an overall team effort.

The Olton Mustangs varsity football team had a scrimmage with Muleshoe last Thursday, while the Sudan Hornets took on Tahoka on Friday, as they look to tune things up for their season-opener this week.

The Springlake-Earth Wolverines will kick-off their first six-man season on Friday on the road against the Whitharral Panthers. They got their first taste of six-man action on Friday when they scrimmaged Silverton and Crowell.

The Amherst Bulldogs are coming off of their lone scrimmage last week against Happy and Petersburg, as they look to begin preparation for their week one match-up against Lubbock Home School. “We played well, and we executed,” Head Coach Daniel Hinojosa said.

The annual Lamb County Leader-News football contest is back with the first set of games coming out in this past Sundays paper. The first week of the contest includes 20 high school football games.
