Amherst set to battle Klondike in first round

The Amherst Bulldogs’ varsity football team is headed to the Class A Six-Man Division II Football Play-offs, as they will take on Klondike at Slaton on Friday at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs are coming off of their open week, after finishing the regular season 7-3 overall, 3-1 in District Play.

Anton ready to take on Sands in Friday play-off

The Anton Bulldogs’ varsity football team claimed the District 3-A Six-Man DII Championship and will be playing Sands in the Bi-district round of the play-offs Head Coach Matthew Hoover talked about the match-up, saying, “Sands will be tough and physical. They are a school with rich tradition so they will be ready to play. They are similar to us last year, nobody expected them to be in this situation and here they are.” He added, “Riley Webb is a solid football player and Michael Diaz is a speedy running back that is shifty and has good vision.”

WILDCATS CLOSE OUT REGULAR SEASON IN WAR ON 84

The Littlefield Wildcat defense pitched a shutout, as they rolled to a, 26-0, victory in the 2020 installment of the War on 84 in Muleshoe on Friday night. The Mules won the coin toss and elected to receive to begin the contest.

Hornets take down New 38-20

The Sudan Hornets’ varsity football team closed out the regular season on Friday with a, 38-20, victory over the New Home Leopards. With the win, the Hornets finish the regular season with a mark of 5-5 overall, 2-2 in district play.

SUDAN BOLD GOLD BAND HEADED TO AREA

ALL ONES — The Sudan Bold Gold Band earned all ones at the Regional Band Competition on Oct. 24th qualifying them for the Area competition, which will be held at Lowery Field on Nov. 14th. “We are extremely proud of our students and the work they have put in,” Kami Schmidt, Band Director said. “The Bold Gold Band’s performance at the Regional Competition earned them a much deserved Division 1 rating that advanced them to the Area competition at Lowery Field in Lubbock on November 14th. The Bold Gold Band was the first 2A band to compete on October 24th and they set the bar high with their performance.” She added, “We are blessed and thankful for the district, parent, regional directors, and music representatives support of our group.” (Submitted Photo)

Lady Cats claim Bi-district trophy over Alpine

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity volleyball team brought home a gold ball on Saturday night, as they took down the Alpine Lady Bucks, 3-1, in the Class 3A Bi-District round of the Play-offs. “Everytime we get one of these gold balls it is special, but this one is just a little more special, because it has been rough,” Head Coach Claire Head said.
