HORNETS SURGE PAST BULLDOGS, 55-45

The Sudan Hornets’ varsity basketball pulled away from the Amherst Bulldogs in their Whitharral Invitational Tournament-opener on Thursday to take the contest, 55-45. Sudan’s Anthony Rodriguez opened the game with a three from the left wing for the Hornets, but the Bulldogs responded, as Gabriel Garcia buried a three of his own from the left elbow off of the assist from Hector Perez to tie the game, 3-3.

MUSTANGS PUSH PAST WOLVERINES, 56-48

The Olton Mustangs’ varsity basketball team rallied past the Springlake-Earth Wolverines on Tuesday in Olton, 56-48. Springlake-Earth senior, Evan DeLeon, got the Wolverines off and running Tuesday night, as he banked in a runner from the right side to put them up, 2-0.

LADY CATS GO 2-0 IN POOL PLAY AT FARWELL

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity basketball team began tournament play at Farwell on Thursday, where they took down Texico, 59-22. Madison McNeese, led the team with 19 points, while adding seven steals, four rebound and two assists.

FILLIES RALLY PAST LADY WOLVERINES, 41-40

The Olton Fillies’ varsity basketball team won a thriller in regulation on Tuesday at home over the Springlake-Earth Lady Wolverines, 41-40. With 5:26 remaining in the opening-quarter, Springlake-Earth junior, Halee Toscano, was fouled on an attempt by Olton senior, Shaylee Leathers.

CONSOLATION BRACKET WINNERS – The Littlefield Lady Cats won their first game last Thursday over Midland Christian at the Denver City Shootout, but fell to Levelland, Thursday night, putting them in the Consolation Bracket. They defeated Slaton, Lovington and Seagraves over the next three days to win the Consolation bracket. NETTES FINISH 2-2 AT SHALLOWATER SHOOTOUT

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team went 2-2 at the 2021 Shallowater Shootout this past weekend. After picking up a win in the opener on Thursday over Andrews, the Nettes followed it with a win over the Estacado Lady Matadors, 44-33, in their first game on Friday.
