Wildcats take down Post, 38-14, for Homecoming victory

The Littlefield Wildcats’ varsity football team won their homecoming game on Friday over the Post Antelopes, 38-14.

With the win, the Wildcats improved to 2-1 overall on the season.

The Wildcats finished with 332 yards of total offense, including 237 rushing yards and 95 passing yards.

Sam Hill opened the scoring in the first quarter for the Wildcats with a two-yard rushing touchdown. The PAT by Ian Mendez was no good, leaving the Wildcats in front, 6-0. later in the quarter, Chip Green rushed for a fiveyard touchdown, but a failed twopoint conversion left the score at, 12-0, as the first quarter came to a close.

Green opened up the second quarter with a 27-yard rushing touchdown, and a failed two-point conversion, left the score, 18-0. Post would answer with a four-yard rushing touchdown, but the PAT was no good, making the score, 18-6.

Green would score once again on a six-yard rushing touchdown, followed with the PAT from Mendez, making the score, 25-6, going into the locker room at halftime.

Green connected with Omar Martinez for a 25-yard touchdown through the air. The PAT from Mendez was good, making the score, 32-6. The Antelopes answered later in the third quarter with a seven-yard rushing touchdown, followed with the two-point conversion to cut the lead to, 3214.

Later in the third, Green broke loose for a 50-yard touchdown run to make the score, 38-14, going into the final quarter of play.

The score would stand, as neither team was able to score in the fourth quarter, as Littlefield won their homecoming game, 38-14.

Chip Green finished the game 10-12 passing for 95 yards and one touchdown. He also added 14 carries for 148 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

McNeese tallied 11 carries for 56 yards, while Ian Mendez tallied eight carries for 40 yards, while Hill added six carries for 11 yards and a score.

In the receiving game, Martinez caught two passes for 30 yards and one touchdown, while MJ Randle hauled in three passes for 22 yards. McNeese also had three catches for 22 yards and Josiah Garcia finished with two catches for 21 yards.

Defensively, Jeremiah Trevino and Diego Ramirez each led the team with eight tackles apiece. Hill tallied seven tackles and had a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Angel Salazar tallied five tackles and a forced fumble, while Marcquis Rosemond contributed four tackles and a fumble recovery.

Jakob Kirkland added four tackles and a sack, while Gabe Montalvo chipped in six tackles and McNeese had six tackles and a forced fumble. Noah Lopez con-tributed one interception and four tackles.

The Wildcats will be at Lamesa on Friday to take on the Golden Tornadoes.

Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
