Wildcats blow out cubs for District 3-3A #1 seed

The Littlefield Wildcats’ varsity basketball team faced off with the Brownfield Cubs for the third time this year in a seeding game on Friday at Lubbock-Cooper Liberty High School, taking the contest, 78-43, to earn the number one seed from District 3-3A heading into the play-offs.

With the win, the Wildcats improve to 29-3 overall, 11-1 in district play.

Brownfield took an early lead in the first quarter, 11-7, but the Wildcats exploded in the second quarter and never looked back. They netted 22 points in the second frame, while holding the Cubs to just nine points, making the score, 29-19, going into the locker room at halftime.

The Wildcats outscored Brownfield, 21-14, in the third quarter and, 28-10, in the fourth quarter to take the victory, 78-43.

The Wildcats were led by Ryan Williams, who tallied 23 points, seven assists, six rebounds and two steals, while Kam McCarty chipped in 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists and one block, and Chip Green contributed 15 points, three rebounds and two steals. Omar Martinez added 10 points, six assists, four rebounds, two steals and one block.

Jayden Barrio tallied five points and one steal, while MJ Randle contributed three points, two assists, two rebounds and one steal, and Sir Pratt added three points, three rebounds and two steals. Ja’Den Williams finished with three rebounds, three steals and two assists.

The Wildcats traveled to Denver City on Tuesday for the Bi-district round of the Play-offs to take on Stanton. Results were not available at press time. Area round info is TBA.
