Sudan Nettes drop heartbreaker to Floydada, 66-65

The Sudan Nettes’ dropped a heart-breaker on Friday to the Floydada Lady Wind, 66-65, in their second meeting of district play.

With the loss, the Nettes fall to 18-7 overall, 6-3 in district play.

Floydada jumped out to a slim lead in the first quarter, taking a, 12-7, lead into quarter number two. Sudan erupted in the second frame, pouring in 25 points to take a, 32-23, lead into the locker room at halftime.

Floydada would bounce back, as they outscored the Nettes, 2317, in the third quarter and, 2016, in the fourth quarter to take the narrow contest, 66-65.

The Nettes were led by Edette Herrera, who posted a doubledouble with 19 points and 14 rebounds, to go along with six assists and two steals, while Melo Rodriguez also recorded a double-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals. Addison Cornelius also finished with a double-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and two steals.

Blessy Montes tallied nine points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal, while Haylee Toscano chipped in eight points, two assists and two rebounds, and Kaileigh Greenwalt contributed four points, two assists and one rebound.

The Nettes were at Ralls on Tuesday to take on the Lady Rabbits. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Friday with a home game against Olton.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
