The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team won their second meeting of the season on Friday with the Olton Fillies, 72-42.

With the win, the Nettes improve to 20-7 overall, 8-3 in district play.

Sudan opened the contest with an 18-point first quarter and poured in 16 points in the second frame to take a, 34-14, lead into the locker room at halftime.

In the second half, Sudan outscored the Fillies, 18-9, in the third quarter and, 20-19, in the fourth quarter to take the contest, 72-42.

Addison Cornelius led the Nettes posting a double-double with 30 points and 10 rebounds, to go along with four steals. Melo Rodriguez joined her in double-figures scoring with 12 points, six rebounds and five steals, while Haylee Toscano added 10 points, eight steals, four assists and two rebounds.

Edette Herrera tallied eight points, nine assists, seven steals and five rebounds, while Emry Humphreys contributed six points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal, and Blessy Montes chipped in three points, seven rebounds and five steals. Erica Herrera added two points and three rebounds, while Kaileigh Greenwalt finished with one point, three steals and two rebounds.

Olton was led by Sarah Chavira, who tallied 12 points, four rebounds, two steals and one assist. Joining her in double-figures scoring wasAnalise Ramage, who chipped in 11 points, six rebounds and two steals.

Aspen Struve tallied six points, five rebounds and one steal, while Kambri Ruiz chipped in five points, three steals and two rebounds, and Kaleigh Geldenhuys contributed five points, seven rebounds and three steals. Amie Beelitz added three points, four rebounds and one steal, while Yarely Santillan chipped in three rebounds and one assist.

Emma Acker tallied six rebounds, two assists and one steal, while Evelyn Matute added three rebounds, one assist and one steal, and Katy Wilson finished with two rebounds.

The Nettes were at Hale Center on Tuesday, while the Fillies were at home against New Deal. Results were not available at press time. Sudan will be at Smyer on Friday to take on the Lady Cats, while Olton will be at Lockney to take on the Lady Horns.

The Nettes will tip-off at 6:30 p.m., while the Fillie are scheduled to tip-off at 6:15 p.m.
