Nettes fall to vega in bi-district play-off

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team saw their season come to an end on Monday night, as they fell to the Vega Lady Horns, 60-54, at Dimmitt High School in the Class 2A Bi-district round of the play-offs.

With the loss, the Nettes finish the season with an overall mark of 23-8, 11-3 in district play. The Nettes jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter, 119, but Vega bounced back in the second frame, pouring in 20 points to take a, 29-21, lead into the locker room at halftime.

Sudan outscored the Lady Horns, 19-17, in the third quarter, cutting the lead to, 46-40, going into the final quarter of play, but in the fourth quarter, both teams netted 14 points, as Sudan fell to Vega in their first round play-off match-up, 60-54. Haylee Toscano led the Nettes in scoring with 14 points, to go along with four rebounds and three steals, while Addison Cornelius tallied 12 points, five rebounds, five steals, two assists and one block, and Edette Herrera chipped in 11 points, three steals, two assists and one rebound.

Blessy Montes contributed seven points, six rebounds, five steals and two assists, while Kaileigh Greenwalt tallied six points, one rebound and one steal, and Melo Rodriguez finished with four points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
