Nettes cruise past Fillies in district action

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team cruised to victory over the Olton Fillies on Tuesday in district play, 62-22.

With the win, the Nettes improve to 15-5 overall, 3-1 in district play, while the Fillies fall to 2-11 overall, 2-2 in district play.

Sudan outscored Olton, 22-1, in the opening frame, and they netted 26 points in the second to push their lead to, 48-10, going into the locker room at halftime.

Olton tallied six points in each of the last two quarters, but fell to the Nettes in their first meeting of district play, 62-22.

Addison Cornelius led the Nettes in scoring with 16 points, to go along with four rebounds, two steals and one assist. Lexi Jennings tallied 14 points, three rebounds and two steals, while Edette Herrera contributed 11 points, five rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks, and Haylee Toscano contributed eight points, three steals, two rebounds, two assists and one block.

Kaileigh Greenwalt tallied six points, one assist and one steal, while Melo Rodriguez contributed five points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals, while Emry Humphreys finished with two points, two rebounds and one steal. Blessy Montes added five steals, three assists and two rebounds, while Erica Herrera contributed two rebounds, two steals and one assist.

For Olton, they were led by Aspen Struve, who finished with six points, five rebounds and one steal, while Kambri Ruiz tallied six points and three rebounds, and Analise Ramage tallied five points and four rebounds.

Amie Beelitz chipped in three points and four rebounds, while Kaleigh Geldenhuys added two points, five rebounds and one steal, while Sarah Chavira chipped in four rebounds and one steal, and Evelyn Matute tallied four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Emma Acker added three rebounds and one assist, while Yarely Santillan finished with two steals and one rebound and Katy Wilson added one rebound.

The Nettes hosted Hale Center on Friday, while the Fillies were at New Deal as district action continues. Results were not available at press time. The Nettes will host Smyer on Tuesday, while the Fillies will be at home to take on Lockney.

Tip-off for those contests is scheduled for 6:15 for the Fillies and 6:30 for the Nettes.
