Fillies go 2- 1 at Tahoka on Saturday

The Olton Fillies varsity softball team picked up their first wins in program history on Saturday at Tahoka, where they went 2-1 for the tournament.

In their first game against the Morton Maidens, the Fillies fell, 7-4. Both teams went scoreless through the first inning and they each added four runs in the second frame, but the Maidens were able to scratch three runs across in the top of the third to take the contest, 7-4.

In the circle, Emma Acker threw three innings, giving up eight hits, four walks and six runs, while earning four strikeouts.

Rebekka Lopez tallied one hit and one RBI, while K Avalos and Aracely Avalos each had an RBI in the contest.

In game two on the day, the Fillies took down the Lubbock Titans, 10-1 for their first win in program history.

Olton scored five runs in both the top of the first and second innings, while giving up just one run in the bottom of the second inning.

In the circle, Denise Alvarado pitched .2 innings giving up one hit, one run and one walk, while earning two strikeouts.

At the plate, Lopez tallied three RBI’s, while Alvarado and Ceralyn Wakefield also each drove in a run.

In their final game of the day on Saturday, the Fillies took down Lockney, 14-11.

Olton opened the game with five runs in the top of the first inning, but Lockney answered in the bottom half of the side, with six runs of their own to take a one-run lead into the second frame.

Olton added five runs in the top of the second, while keeping Lockney scoreless, making the score, 10-6, going into the third inning. Lockney responded, as they held Olton scoreless in the top half of the third, while adding five runs to take a one-run lead int the fourth inning, 11-10.

In the fourth inning, Olton was able to scratch four runs across, while keeping Lockney quiet in the bottom half of the inning to take the contest, 14-11.

In the circle, Aracely Avalos pitched two innings, giving up two hits, four walks and four runs, while Acker pitched one inning, giving up one hit, six walks and five runs.

At the plate, Alvarado had a homerun, one RBI and a walk, while Wakefield tallied two hits and two RBI’s and Lopez added two hits, a walk and two RBI’s. Aracely Avalos also had three walks and scored three runs in the contest.
