Last week I was jogging early in the morning and was able to watch the sunrise. It was such a beautiful scene as the colors blended and everything seemed to come to life around me. I also noticed some very large sunflowers and I began to think about how sunflowers always seek the sun. This stuck with me as I thought about what I preached a few weeks ago.

On August 16th , 2020 I preached on 1 Samuel 1 and the amazing story of Hannah who couldn’t have children. She had a sister-wife, named Peninnah, who mocked her for being unable to have children. But Hannah did something very wise. She prayed fervently and persistently to God. And God gave her a son. She named her son Samuel, which means God hears, and she immediately dedicated him to the Lord for Holy Service as a Nazarite. He began ministry at a young age and eventually became the High Priest for the people. He was one of the greatest men in history.

Now here’s what’s amazing:

That story is a Picture of the Gospel.

You see God sent his son, Jesus, to earth on our behalf.

And He became the true HIGH PRIEST. He atoned for our sins by living a perfectsinless life. He willingly died on the cross for our sins. And He victoriously rose from the grave three days later.

So here’s my challenge for you. I want you to be like a sunflower.

I want you to seek the Son! 1 John 5:11-12 says, “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. The one who has the Son has this eternal life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have this eternal life.”

Also, Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of God’s Glory.” We all sin & therefore we deserve Hell. Eternal separation from God. But here’s the Good News: Romans 5:8 says, “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” And the BEST news is Romans 10:9. “If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” So I pray today, right now, that you SEEK the SON.

I love you all!
