Ruth Pauline Bartley, 94, went to be with her Lord Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020 in Littlefield, TX. She was born Sept. 14, 1926 in Chelsea, OK to Edward and Augusta Pech Drager.
Ruth married Eugene Sebert Bartley on May 12, 1946. She was a resident of Littlefield since 1934. She has been a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod all her life. She taught Sunday School and VBS. She held various other offices in the church. She was a member of the Walther League, and an active member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, holding various offices, and also a quilter for LWML. She was a member of the Jayceettes of Littlefield for many years. She wrote a short story, “Life Through the Eyes of Death” in High School where she got a Superior rating. She loved reading and would go to the Lamb County Library weekly to check out books. She read 150 books over a two-year period in her last years. She would do numerous puzzles and word searches and did so daily. She started sewing professionally for the public in 1957. There was nothing she could not design or sew. She was Roger Lowe’s first secretary and worked from 1975 until 1998. She also loved to travel and traveled to many states after retirement.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Gene, after 55 years of marriage. Also preceding in death were her parents; sisters, Athalia Drager Siems, Helen Drager Birkelbach, Edna Drager Mauk; brother, Martin Herbert Drager; and two nieces, Lila Lou Mauk Adkins and Cynthia Siems Vorheis.
Ruth is survived by her son, David Bartley and wife, Nina of Mesquite; daughter, Gina McKinnon and husband, Ben of Littlefield; three granddaughters, Gini McKinnon Black and Brad, Rachele McKinnon Duncan and Kirk, and LeAnne Bartley Cluck and Jacob; four great-grandchildren, Caytlin and Brayden Black, and Kaleb and Kylen Duncan; and four neices and two nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020 in Grace Chapel at Hillcrest Funeral Home, Littlefield, TX with Pastor Tanner Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Littlefield Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ben McKinnon, Brad Black, Rick Ingram and Mark Grace. Memorials can be made to a Hospice of your choice.
