RJ Cook

RJ Cook, 87, of Amherst passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 in Lubbock. He was born July 12, 1933 in Lamb County to Claude and Lucille (Priddy) Cook.

RJ married Nell Enloe July 29, 1951 in Littlefield. He was a fanner and enjoyed gardening. RJ coached youth baseball and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Amherst where he served as a Deacon. Most of all he loved his grandchildren, who called him Big Dad.

He is survived by his wife Nell Cook of Amherst; three daughters, Vickie Reecer of Amarillo, Claudia Cook of Amherst and Becky Miller and husband, Rick of Amherst; five grandchildren, Lauren Wolfram, Jordan Reecer, Jennifer Bellar, Russell Miller and Richard Miller; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Claudine Feagley of Portales, NM.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Wyonne Mount.

Graveside services were held Friday morning, March 19, 2021 at Littlefield Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church in Amherst.
