Elmer Ray Muller, 98, of Fieldton, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026. He was born on April 6, 1927 to John and Myrtle Muller.
Ray was one of nine children. Ray attended grade school at Fieldton and graduated from Amherst High School in 1945. He served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1946. Ray married Jane Ann Hicks on December 22, 1952. They made their home in the Fieldton community where he was a life-long farmer. Ray was a longtime member and deacon of the First Baptist Church at Fieldton and later Parkview Baptist Church in Littlefield, Texas. He had a heart for people and his Christianity was exemplified in the way he served and loved others.
Ray and Jane Ann had three sons: Perry (Deanna), Roger (Doris), and Michael (Lisa). Ray was "Papa" to seven grandchildren: Kristy Johnson (Chris), Shadd Friday, Carolyn Curry (Jonathan), Kyle Muller (Janet), Sara Fillman (Ryan), Bryce Muller (Casie), and Jenna Ozbirn (Garry). Papa had thirteen great-grandchildren: Trevor (Maddy), Alyssa, Kristopher, Hannah, Carson, Ryan, Justus, Kaedyn, Grant, Carter, Avery, Olivia, and Micah. He had three great-great grandchildren: Lilly, Kamdon, and Jayde. "Uncle Ray" is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly, as well as, two brother in-laws: Richard Altman of Warner Robbins, Georgia and Lloyd Joyner of Almagordo, New Mexico.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings; and his son Michael.
The family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to Runningwater Draw Care Center for the way they have loved and cared for "Ray", "Dad", "Papa".
A celebration of Ray's life will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Chapel (1305 Phelps Avenue) in Littlefield. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Littlefield Cemetery Association, PO Box 1371, Littlefield, TX 79339.
