Dorothy Hill, 77, of Sudan passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021 in Lubbock. She was born Aug. 4, 1943 in Amherst, Texas to Henry William Barber and Gladys (Martin) Barber.

Dorothy married Orville Hill on Feb. 9, 1962 in Sudan. The couple were affectionately known as “Grandy” and “Grumpy” by their grandchildren and community. Dorothy worked at American Cotton Growers for 33 years. She loved the mountains and playing games. Most of all, Grandy loved her family, and enjoyed spending time with them. She loved cooking with her granddaughters and spending time with her grandsons and baking their favorite treats. She loved her special visits from her great grandson and neighbor, John Michael. She was also excited to be gaining two more special great grandsons.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 59 years, Orville Hill of Sudan; a son, Mike Hill and wife, Patty of Sudan; a daughter, Debbie Ogerly and husband, Kerry of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Brandon Hill and fiancé, Kara Dwyer, Laci Hill, Lindsay Ogerly and fiancé, Shaun Richard and Cooper Ogerly; and three great-grandsons, John Michael Maldonando, Hunter Dwyer and Wesson Dwyer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jimmie Barber.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Sudan with Pastor Tracy Spencer officiating and Billy Tiller assisting. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made in Dorothy’s honor to Sudan Fire & EMS.
