Carloz Duran, 75, of Earth, passed away Friday, Dec. 4, 2020 in Lubbock. He was born January 5, 1945 in Littlefield, Texas to Conrado and Concha Duran.

Carloz enlisted and served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1967 during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he married Gloria Villarreal on Feb. 7,1968 in Littlefield. They moved to Earth in 1976, where they planted roots and started a family. He was the owner and operator of Earth Meat Locker for 43 years, where he was well known for not only his processing skills, but was near the meat locker and his customers so much that when he retired and closed the doors, it only lasted about a month until he was back and open for business. While he was proud to be raised a Littlefield Wildcat, he was a true supporter of the Wolverines. He loved his community, and he left a lasting impact. Carloz had a big heart and would help anyone, whether it was offering a meal to someone in need, or helping in many other random acts of kindness, he was always looking out for others. He enjoyed being outside, working in his garden where he grew the best tomatoes, peppers and okra, or going rabbit hunting with his boys. He was a football fan, not only of local Friday night lights, but of the Texas Longhorns as well. He was a member of the St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Earth.

Carloz is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gloria Duran of Earth; a daughter, Deanna Duran of Littlefield; two sons, Carl J. Duran and wife, Yvette of Austin and Felix Duran and wife, Kim of George West, TX; five grandchildren, Courtney Duran, Heather Been, Lyndsi Mendoza, Adam Duran, and Ryan Duran; a great-grandchild, Presley Been and one on the way; two sisters, Conchita Vargas of Shallowater and Juana Duran of Littlefield; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Duran Trejo; and nine brothers, Jessie Duran, Pete Duran, Marcelino Duran, Sonny Duran, Mike Duran, Sam Duran, Ralph Duran, Frank Duran, and Conrad Duran Jr.
