KAY JEFFERIES

Kay Jefferies, 81, of Olton, died Saturday, April 15, 2023, in Olton. Services were held Saturday morning, April 22, 2023, at Olton Methodist Church, with Pastor Kyle Brock officiating. Interment followed at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Karolyn Kay Murray Jefferies was born July 13, 1941, in Stamford, TX, to Thomas and Nealy (Gentry) Murray. She graduated from Anson High School in 1959 and went on to attend Hardin Simmons University. On Nov. 22, 1962, Kay married John Jefferies. Kay graduated from Hardin Simmons and taught school in Trent, TX, for two years. Moving to Olton in 1965, Kay taught second grade at H.P. Webb Elementary in Olton for 33 years. Earning her master’s degree in counseling from Texas Tech University, Kay became a counselor at Olton ISD for the next four years.

Kay was a member of the Olton Methodist Church where she served in many ways. She was also a member of the Olton Study Club and Olton Senior Citizens. Kay enjoyed working crossword puzzles and was an avid reader.
