Guillermo “Joe” Garcia

May 10, 1952 ~ Sept. 25, 2021

Guillermo “Joe” Garcia, 69, of Spade, passed away Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021 at home. He was born May 10, 1952 in Hargill, TX to Guillermo Garcia and Antonia (Rodriguez) Garcia.

Joe married Janie Garza on Nov. 8, 1976 in Lubbock. He was a hard worker, and was employed by Heffington Farms for 29 years, before retiring in 2019. He also worked at American Cotton Growers, for Matt Faver farms and for Gordan Graves seasonally. In addition he was a truckdriver for Spade Trucking and Kappa Trucking. When he wasn’t working, which was a rare occasion, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and shooting his firearms. He liked classic cars, cooking out with family and watching wrestling. Joe was a jokester, and he loved pulling pranks on his grandchildren. He would preform special ‘magic tricks’ for his grandkids and kept everyone laughing. He gave the best advice as a father and was always there to lend a hand no matter what the circumstances were. Most of all he just loved being with his family and spending time with them making memoires.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janie Garcia of Spade; a son, Santos Garcia of Littlefield; a daughter, Crystal Sims and husband, Seagram of Matador, TX; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Adam Garcia and wife, Juanita, David Garcia and wife, Melissa, and Henry Garcia and wife, Anita, all of Anton; four sisters, Gloria Applegate and husband, Bo of Pampa, TX, Susie Garcia of Anton, Barbara Garcia of Anton, and Tammy Delacruz and husband, Willie of Spade; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Courtney Garcia; a brother, Richard Garcia; and three sisters, Eve Gossett, Elizabeth Bastardo and Aurora Reyes.
