Guadalupe Bernal “Chore” Garcia, 81, of Littlefield passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020 in Littlefield. He was born Sept. 9, 1939 in Raymondville, TX to Abran Garcia and Marcelina (Bernal) Garcia.

Guadalupe married Josephina Aguilar in April 1970. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, in the artillery infantry. He was a farmer for many years. He was an avid reader and loved to garden. Guadalupe was “old school’ and a man of integrity and respect. He was a man of his word, when he said something, he meant it. He had a huge heart and loved his family, especially his grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Tata”.

Guadalupe is survived by his wife of 50 years, Josephina Garcia of Littlefield; two daughters, Eva Garcia and husband, Marcos Melendez of Littlefield, and Elena Welch and Aaron Welch of Houston; a son, Juan Trevino of Littlefield; six grandchildren, Adelaida Melendez Garcia, Ismael Melendez, Maira Melendez, Ricardo Welch, Tara Welch, and Anthony Aguilar; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Rosa Porras of Earth and Juanita Camacho of Dallas; a brother, Preston Garcia of Lubbock; and other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Esteban Garcia; three brothers; and two sisters.

Viewing and prayer was held from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov, 22, 2020 at Grace Chapel. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
