Gary Allen Purdy, 71, of Littlefield, passed away Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020 in Littlefield. He was born March 3, 1949 in Lubbock, Texas to Sisco Allen Purdy Jr. and Glendolyn Elouise (Bales) Purdy.

Gary graduated from Littlefield High School with the class of 1967. He married Angela Dayton May 28, 1970 in Littlefield. He owned and operated Purdy Machine from 1976-2014, then he entered into semi-retirement, and owned and operated Purdy’s Boat at the lake in Justiceburg. He was a hard worker and a talented and well known mechanic who could fix anything. He worked on boats, cars, airplanes, irrigation motors, and many others. Gary loved being at the lake, especially fishing and he was a member of many Bassmaster Clubs and competed and won numerous bass fishing tournaments. He also loved hunting, bowling, golfmg, horseshoe pitching, working out and playing drums. He won the single/double State Horseshoe Pitching achievements, along with various bowling league and golf tournaments. He was a member of various horseshoe clubs, VFW, the THPA, NHPA, NHRA, and the NRA. Gary loved God, his country, his family and his friends. He was very social and outgoing, loved to joke around and was the life of the party. He had an infectious laugh and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife, Angie Purdy of Littlefield; two daughters, Sheri Lyn Purdy of Colorado City and Keely Cristan and husband, Joe Paul of Littlefield; a son, Geffery Alan Purdy and wife, Katharine of Pecos; six grandchildren, Liliani Purdy, Kelsea Purdy, Jessica Garcia, Lynzee Watson, Britney Ojeda, and Shawn Cristan; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cindy Demel and husband, Dale of Pep and Suzie Purdy of San Antonio; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sisco Allen Purdy and Glendolyn Phillips and husband, Harold; a brother, Larry Purdy, and his grandparents.

Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020 at Grace Chapel in Littlefield with PastorAllen Hutto officiating. Interment followed in Littlefield Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Geff Purdy, Joe Paul Cristan, Shawn Cristan, Philip Fabiano, CW Crews, Alan Samuel, Ronald “Rocket” Parker, and Joey Ore.

Arrangements were under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
