Frederick “Freddy” Martinez, 60, of Littlefield passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021 in Lubbock. He was born July 13, 1960 in Littlefield to John Fred Martinez and Consuelo “Connie” Martinez.

Freddy attended Littlefield High School. He married Narmi Vargas June 24, 1978 in Littlefield. He worked at American Cotton Growers for many years before retiring in 2015. Freddy loved sports and was a great mentor to the area youth. He was a respected coach and referee for numerous years and helped plant the love of basketball in the hearts of many young players. He was very outgoing and truly loved people, he never met a stranger. He was a positive “glass is half full” kind of a guy, who was always joking, had a contagious laugh and enjoyed making others laugh with his sense of humor. Freddy gave everyone the benefit of the doubt and would help anyone in need. He also loved cooking, the sunshine and poking fun at friends. Most of all, he was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a Jehovah’s Witness.

Freddy is survived by his wife, Narmi Martinez of Littlefield; a daughter, Ashley Martinez Coleman and husband, Jourdan of Haslet, Texas; a son, Jayden Martinez and wife, Natalie of Lubbock; six grandchildren, Elijah, Jordyn, Noah, Liam, Asher and Mila; his parents, Fred and Connie Martinez of Littlefield; a sister, Tisha Martinez of Littlefield; a nephew, Dylan Brown of Littlefield; and other extended family members.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2021 via Zoom, (ID 825 1723 7812 —PASSCODE 560008). A come and go viewing was held from on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 and from 9 a.m. — Noon Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
