Burl Bruce Trotter, 87, of Littlefield, Texas passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026. Bruce was born to Daily Trotter and Hattie Jane (King) Trotter on June 4, 1939, on a farm West of Littlefield.
After graduating Littlefield High School in1958 he attended Trinidad State College one year before he was employed by GTE as a lineman. After 32 years with GTE, which included two years in the military service, he retired and went into real estate in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Returning to Littlefield in 2018, he married Judy Butler of Littlefield, where they attended the First Baptist Church.
Bruce is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Trotter of Littlefield, Texas; his father and mother, D.D. Trotter and Hattie King Trotter of Littlefield, Texas; three brothers, Robert Trotter and wife, Lola Mae Trotter of Littlefield, Texas, Grady Trotter and wife, Charleyne Trotter of Littlefield, Texas, and Jack Trotter and wife, Pat Trotter of Denton, Texas.
He is survived by his two sons, Russell Trotter and wife, Lynne of Roanoke, Texas, and Scott Trotter and wife, Lorie of Boca Raton, Florida; two stepsons, Jason Butler and wife, Laura of Littlefield, Texas, and Todd Butler and wife, Michelle of Longview, Texas; as well as many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Celebration of Life Services were held Thursday morning, July 16, 2026, at Grace Chapel in Littlefield, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church at 400 East 6th Street, Littlefield, Texas 79339 or app.easytithe.com.
Cremation arrangements were under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield, Texas.
