TX Producers Coop in Sudan Gins its First Cotton Bale

The 2021 cotton harvest is well underway and Texas Producers Cooperative has reported the first bale for the 2021 harvest was completed on October 15, 2021, 5:46 p.m. at Texas Producers Cooperative Gin in Sudan. The first bale was harvested by Jeff Edwards of Amherst.

The Delta Pine 1822 variety was planted on a 170 acre dryland farm northwest of Whitharral, TX. on May 17, 2021. The cotton was defoliated on September 24th and killed on October 2nd. The crop was harvested on October 9th.

The bale weighed 499 pounds. The lint turnout was 30.58%. The average loan price per bale was 55.06 cents per bale.

Mr. Edwards received bonus checks in the amount of $1.00 per pound from Clay Carr, manager of the First United Bank of Sudan, and Amanda Mata representing the First State Bank of Amherst. On hand to celebrate the first bale was Jeff Edwards, his wife, Jennifer Edwards, his daughter, Kyndal, and his son, Kooper

As of October 22, Texas Producers Cooperative in Sudan reported 602 bales ginned and 58 modules were on the lot.
