LHS Band competes at Area competition

On Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021 the Littlefield High School Marchin’ Cats earned their 18 th 1 st division rating out of the past 19 years at the regional UIL Marching Contest held in Lubbock. The judges for this contest were: Mike Lunney-retired Abilene, Darin Johns-Andrews High School, and Barbara Lambrect-retired El Paso. The band competed against all 3A bands in the Lubbock area.

The band has been preparing for this contest since school began, adding drill and music weekly to the show. This contest determined which bands would advance to Area.

The Marchin’ Cats earned a 1 st division rating from each judge, which allowed the band to advance to the UIL Area Band Competition.

Area band competition was held this Saturday, Oct. 23 rd in Lubbock, at Lowery Field. 3A bands from 3 regions, #1-Amarillo area, #6 Odessa and Abilene area, #16 Lubbock area competed.

The Marching Cats marched in the preliminary competition at 2:30. There were 22 Class 3A bands competing. The preliminary competition began at 10 a.m. and finals were at 6:45 p.m. This contest, (Area) determined which bands will advance to UIL State Marching Band Competition the first of November. Ten bands advanced to finals after preliminary competition. Out of the 10 bands performing in the finals, four bands were chosen to advance to the UIL State Marching Band Contest.
