Mark Cantrell

August 16, 1962 ~ July 15, 2021

Mark Cantrell, Telecommunications Specialist for the State of Texas and resident of Lubbock, Texas died unexpectantly on July 15, 2021 at the age of 58.

Mark was born in Amherst, Texas on Aug. 16, 1962. He graduated from Amherst High School, Class of 1980. He has spent the last 20 plus years working for the Texas Department of Health and Human Services Commission, doing IT support and operations.

Mark loved hunting, fishing, and was a big Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a collector of baseball cards and had a huge knife collection. He loved searching for arrowheads and had a passion for Indian artifacts. Mark never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Mark is survived by his parents, Hudson and Joy Cantrell of Amherst; his sister, Christal Tiller and husband Billy of Bula, Texas; his sister, Dina Wall of Amarillo, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

A celebration of his life is scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 6, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Amherst. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Amherst Fire Department/EMS, the Amherst First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, or the Sudan Fire Department/EMS.
