Fern Pittman

Fern Pittman, 92, of Earth passed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021 in Amherst. She was born Oct. 15, 1928 in Petersburg, TX to Shelby Stapleton and Anna Mae (McNeil) Stapelton.

Fern married Billy Morris Pittman on Dec. 22, 1946. They moved to Earth from Abernathy in 1968. She was a talented seamstress and owned Fern’s Curtains for many years. She was active in her church, the First Baptist Church in Earth, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, and was there almost every time the doors were open. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and she also enjoyed round dancing. Fern was a feisty little lady, who loved her family.

She is survived by her three daughters, Pam Custer of Houston, Lisa Barton of Earth, and Jana Grimsley of Abernathy; a son, Barry Pittman of Tahoka; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a brother, Shelby Ray Stapleton of Amarillo.

Waiting for her in Heaven was her husband and two brothers.

Graveside services were held Friday afternoon, Jan. 29, 2021 at Earth Memorial Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Lain Custer, Clay Pittman, Neal Barton, Kade Grimsley, Gavin Gonzales, and Quinton Gonzales. Arrangements were under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
