Lena Vestella Williams known to many as “Vesta”, was called home to heaven on Sunday, October 18, 2020. She was born April 14, 1942 in Clarksville, Texas to Bera and Lussia Hodge.
Vesta accepted Christ at an early age. She loved the Lord and was a faithful servant. She was a dedicated member of Irvin Street First Baptist Church. She was a part of Irvin Street Women’s Mission Group and served in the kitchen for many years. She was also a member of the Littlefield Prayer Breakfast Club.
Vesta attended Dunbar School. Vesta worked in the kitchen as a cook at Littlefield Hospital which later became Lamb Healthcare Center for about 35 years between the two. Vesta worked as a house keeper for many years as well. Vesta was famous for her pound cakes. She loved cooking, everyone loved her cooking.
Vesta was married to Will Williams and to this union seven children were born. Preceded in death as a baby, Alfred Williams. She leaves to cherish her memories children: Will Williams (Jennica) of Littlefield, Cynthia Hilliard (Reggie) of Lake Dallas, Patricia Williams (Clay) of Lubbock, Sherry Williams of Denton, Larry Williams (April) of Shady Shores, and Jacqualine “Jackie” Stringer (Chester) of Denton.
Vesta was preceded in death by her parents, Bera and Lussia Hodge; her siblings, Ocie Hodge, Lois Ross, Lubera Eggins, Eva Lois Walker, Bernice Henderson, Lula (LV) Crayton, Leon Hodge, and Matthew (Mackie) Hodge.
She leaves to cherish her siblings, Doris Randolph, Preysol Hodge (Johnnie), Charles Hodge (Paula), Tommy Hodge, Howard Hodge (Dorothy), Larry Hodge (Trudy) and her sister-in-law, Mary Hodge.
She leaves to cherish 29 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A public viewing will be held Sunday, October 25, 2020 from 4 to 6 p.m. at McCarty Funeral Home in Littlefield. Facial coverings and social distancing required.
