Olton ISD is welcoming Cheyenne Hernandez to the Mustang family this school year as the district’s new fourth- grade science and social studies teacher.
Hernandez is from Rotan, Texas, and brings four years of teaching experience with her to Olton. Before taking on her new role at Olton Elementary, she taught first grade, special education, and kindergarten.
Along with teaching, Hernandez is currently pursuing her master’s degree in special education through Texas Tech University.
Outside of school, Hernandez is active in her church, enjoys traveling, and has participated in two mission trips to Africa. She is also the primary caregiver for her younger sister, Jade, who has multiple disabilities.
As she begins her first year at Olton ISD, Hernandez said she is excited to join a community that takes pride in its schools, traditions, and students.
“What makes me most excited about joining Olton ISD is joining a community that has so much pride and traditions. As a small-town girl, I have always loved community traditions and taking part in them,” said Hernandez.
Hernandez added that she is very excited to become more involved in the community and help to support students beyond the classroom.
“One thing I absolutely love to do is go to any athletic event to support all students from elementary to high school,” said Hernandez, adding that she is looking forward to building relationships with students and families while becoming part of the Olton community.
Olton ISD welcomed Hernandez in a recent Facebook post, stating they are very excited to have Ms. Hernandez join the Mustang family this year.
