Police Activity Shows High Volume of Traffic Stops and Disturbances

The last couple of weeks of May have been busy for Littlefield law enforcement, with reports showing a mix of traffic stops and a handful of serious incidents that kept officers moving nonstop across the city.

Last month, from May 18 to May 31, officers worked major routes such as Hall Avenue and Waylon Jennings Boulevard, logging 97 traffic stops and responding to a wide range of calls and emergencies.

During this time period, officers responded to multiple terroristic threat reports, several assaults, and a number of domestic disturbances. In total, six arrests were made during this period. However, only three of those arrests included specific charges in the report, while the remaining entries were listed without detailed information.

According to the police report on May 25 around 12:48 a.m., a 44-year-old female was arrested after a domestic disturbance call, where she was charged with assaulting a family member and resisting arrest during the encounter. The report also says that at 9:14 p.m. on May 31, a 47-year-old male was arrested for tampering with identification numbers on the 1100th block of Hall Avenue, and on May 20 at 2:36 p.m., a 34year-old female was arrested on a drug paraphernalia charge.

Many reports regarding private property also appeared throughout the logs during this time period, including two burglaries, six theft reports, and two hitand- run incidents. None of these were tied to one major event, but they added to the overall workload during the two-week period.

Fire and Emergency Service (EMS) calls were also a large part of the mix, including a seizure, a possible deceased person, and a stroke-related medical emergency, along with two firerelated calls on May 19 and May 31.
