The basketball court bustled with activity; instead of players, Littlefield High School students filled the seats as they awaited the presentation of their academic awards for the 2025 to 2026 school year.
At the annual academic awards ceremony on May 19, 2026, students and faculty received various accolades, and seniors received the final awards of their high school career.
Commencing the awards, the Masonic Grand Lodge of Littlefield presented the Mirabeau B. Lamar Award of Excellence to Hettie Bennink of Littlefield Primary.
Next, the Littlefield Student Council presented the Littlefield Angel Award to Renee Martin in honor of her late husband, Ronnie Martin.
Additionally, Martin received a $5,000 donation from the student council cake auction proceeds in April.
Following this, the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes received awards ranging from Academic All-District and the highest class averages. Additionally, seniors who are graduating with honors received recognition.
Honoring the top 10% of each class, the freshmen students received recognition first. The top 10% of the freshman class are: Zalise Davis, Ellinie Dabrowski, Jacob Fuentes, Chanel Salinas, London Taylor, Giuliana Andrea, Melany Marquez, Nayeli Mata and Adyleigh Rodriguez The top 10% of the sophomore class are: Jaylen Parchman, Craig Jennings, Max Martinez, Samuel Saenz, Jazmin Almance, Piper Carr, Katharina Hill, William Rodriguez, Bailee Griffin and Amaya McCarick.
The top 10% of the junior class are: Boston Halton, Ky Hays, Christopher Weaver, Maggie McNeese, Brianna Aleman, Fernanda Larrea and Rhealee Golden.
Concluding with the top ten graduates, the top ten students of the class of 2026 are: Matthew Rios, Brittani Wright, Tyson Carr, Makinzi Tyler, Caleb Caudillo, Bryndle Ray, Sophie Garcia, Kevin Nachak and Madison Contreras.
Graduates receiving a Patient Care Technician certification and those who completed courses through South Plains College were honored next. ” Notably, Jordan Randle received his associate’s degree from South Plains College.
The class of 2026 valedictorian and salutatorian received recognition, Caleb Caudillo and Bryndle Ray, respectively.
Nate Castaneda and Iris Hernandez received the All-Wildcat Boy and Girl superlative.
Concluding the ceremony, Trisha Nelson received the Teacher of the Year Award.
