In Loving Memory Of Lucia Monreal
Oct. 31, 1932 ~ May 20, 2026
Lucia Monreal, 93, of Earth, Texas, entered eternal life on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. She was born on October 31, 1932, in Crystal City, Texas to Jose and Maria Gonzales.
As a child, Lucia was born into a large family. She was one of seventeen children in her home. Lucia married Pablo Monreal on July 24, 1949, in Devine, Texas. Together they had seven children. Lucia and Pablo raised their children to be hard workers as they were. For many years, Lucia worked at Caprock Community Action as a caregiver. Their family members were priority and were the most important pieces in their life. Pablo entered eternal life on March 17, 2009. Lucia's grandchildren loved their 'Momo' and will cherish all the memories made with her. Among many talents that she was blessed with, Lucia was one of the best tamale makers. She was well known for her ability to make heartfelt meals in her kitchen. One of her most family loved desserts was her famous German chocolate cake. Like loving her family, baking and cooking came effortlessly to Lucia.
Elegance and classiness were two traits that could be used to describe Lucia. She was always well dressed. She was connected to her Lord and was a longtime active member of St. Mary Magdalen Church in Earth, Texas. Lucia was one of two Guadalupanas left in her church. She was a kind and straightforward woman. Some would say she was feisty in spirit. Lucia's legacy will be lived on through the family she created.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Pablo Monreal, Jr. and wife, Alice of Ft. Worth, Texas, Rudy Monreal and wife, Rosemary of Earth, Texas, Henry Monreal and Elena of Lubbock, Texas, Lorenzo Monreal and wife, Jodie of Canyon, Texas, Richard Monreal and wife, Maybell of San Angelo, Texas; her daughters, Frances Alcala and husband, Donald of Plainview, Texas, and Josie Longoria and spouse, Tony of Elbow Lake, Minesota; twenty-eight grandchildren; fifty-eight great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great grandchildren; and four sisters, Janie Gonzales of Pampano Beach, Florida, Rosa Gonzales of Pampano Beach, Florida, Dorothea Gonzales of Pampano Beach, Florida, and Scensiona Rosales of Yoakum, Texas.
