Lucia Monreal, 93, of Earth, TX, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. She was born on Oct. 31, 1932, in Crystal City, TX to Jose and Maria Gonzales.
Lucia was born into a large family. She was one of seventeen children in her home. Lucia married Pablo Monreal on July 24, 1949, in Devine, TX. Together they had seven children. For many years, Lucia worked at Caprock Community Action as a caregiver. She was one of the best tamale makers and was well known for her famous German chocolate cake. Baking and cooking came effortlessly to Lucia.
She was a longtime active member of St. Mary Magdalen Church in Earth, Texas. Lucia was one of two Guadalupanas left in her church.
Those left to cherish her memory are her five sons and their spouse; her two daughters and their spouses; twenty-eight grandchildren; fifty-eight great-grandchildren; seventeen greatgreat grandchildren; and four sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; nine brothers; and three sisters.
Mass for Lucia will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Earth. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Grace Chapel within Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield, TX. Visitation will resume after the rosary until 8:00 p.m.
