Museum Director Littlefield Lands / Duggan House Museum
Greetings and salutations from all of us at the Museum. I am so sorry that we have not been open for going on one (1) year, but Murphy’s Las is alive and well around here. One thing is the weather, which is AWFUL, and the other is accidents. BUT!, we are ready to get started and open up again, and I just wanted to let you all know that we are ready to greet all our old members and hopefully all our new members ASAP. You all know that the house we lost had rooms where we were able to have different types of layouts in them. But guess what – our new building, The old Ware’s Department Store is just one huge warehouse style building, and trying to figure out how to make rooms is beginning to be a big problem. You know, when you plan on one thing, and it won’t work so you have to make alternative plans that may or may not work is beginning to drive us up the wall. When we get open and you come to visit, you will see what I mean.
I do want to take a moment to congratulate all the Area teams on the outstanding successes they have had this year. All of the towns, Anton, Olton, Springlake-Earth, Sudan, Amherst, Littlefield have really shown their stuff and made us all proud. And what about the huge, wonderful Fire Truck that the city has gotten, and any number of things that have happened since the beginning of the year. AND, the big new HIGH SCHOOL that is just waiting for all the students next year. And aren’t the Middle Schoolers going to be proud to be the first ones in their building. Things are really looking up in our wonderful City of Littlefield and around the area. Don’t forget we have a new City Manager and City Secretary that seem to be ready to make changes to bring back our City, not to what it used to be, but to something better. Our best wishes to them.
If you happened to go downtown to see the Christmas tree that was in the park between the Police department and the library, did you also see the window Christmas display that was in the front window of our new building?? We have Cheryl McCartney and Dana Fenley to thank for that. AND, they wanted to do it. It makes me proud to have them aboard, and I know their Mom would be happy.
One last statement before I close, Are You Willing To Come And Help Us Get Started? Let me know by calling the Museum 806385-9001, and leaving a message.
Thank you all, and have a great Easter.
