Senior Citizens serve lunch on Wednesdays

The Lamb County Senior Citizens’ are back in business for Wednesday lunhes. On Wednesdays at noon, potluck meals are served, with members taking their favorite dish to share, or by paying a $6 lunch fee.

Children’s Advocacy Center Announces New CEO

Children’s Advocacy Center of Greater West Texas, Inc (CAC) announced on Thursday the selection of their new Chief Executive Officer. The CAC Board of Directors has appointed Justin M. DeLoach as the new CEO for the organization, a 501(c)3 Non-Profit serving victims of child abuse along with providing additional child advocacy and prevention services in San Angelo and throughout the Concho Valley. A staff of thirty-five individuals, and co-located partners of San Angelo Police Department, Child Protective Investigations, and Homeland Security Investigations, the CAC has five programs serving children and families through forensic interviews, family advocacy, therapy, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), parent education, parent mentor-ship, community education, and outreach services.

Record Jobs, Employment, and Labor Force Spotlight Texas Momentum

Texas broke three records again with number of jobs, number employed, and the size of the state’s civilian labor force. Total nonfarm employment increased by 31,100 positions over the month to reach a 21st consecutive series-high level at 13,944,600 jobs and achieved 28 consecutive months of growth. Since June 2022, Lone Star State employment grew by 542,500 positions—the largest annual increase in the nation. Texas’ employment growth rate continued to outperform with 4.0 percent annual growth from June 2022 to June 2023—outpacing any other state as well as the nation’s more modest 2.5 percent.

I trust your summer is going well! It is hard to believe we are less than three weeks away from the start of another school year. We will be having our preregistration on Tuesday, August 1 from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Wildcat Gymnasium. I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to get your child(ren) enrolled for the 20232024 school year. If you have any questions, please contact your building principal for specific details, etc. School officially starts on Monday, August 14. As we begin a new school year, please be cognizant of the school zones (20 mph) as students will be anxiously arriving to school and may not be paying attention at crosswalks.
