USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in Texas is accepting applications for the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP). While NRCS accepts easement applications on a continuous basis, applications for the next funding consideration must be submitted by December 31, 2021.

USDA Agricultural Marketing Service Deputy Administrator Darryl W. Earnest has provided an update to cotton industry stakeholders on November 23 to discuss issues the agency has encountered delivering cotton classification results to producers on the 2021-crop.

Electronic giant Samsung announced last week that it will build a new semiconductor manufacturing facility in the Central Texas town of Taylor, about 40 miles northeast of Austin. The $17 billion investment will be the largest foreign direct investment in Texas to date and brings the company’s total investment in the state to $35 billion.

Driving through Lamb County one immediately notices that the cotton harvest is well underway, and if the weather stays dry, it will be nearing completion in good time. The cotton fields which once glowed white as far as one could see now bear the stark contrast of brown dirt covered with brown, bare stalks.
