Amherst Graduates Gather for Reunion

The 1984 graduating class of the Amherst Bulldogs joyously convened for their 40th Class Reunion, warmly welcomed back to their Alma Mater. Unexpectedly, the Class of 1985 decided to join in, adding to the jubilation. Together, they relished in the Annual Amherst Chamber of Commerce Banquet on Tuesday, March 26 and some rejoiced at the Centennial Celebration of the First Baptist Church of Amherst on Sunday, March 24.

Texas Community Futures Forum to be held on May 2nd

The Texas Community Futures Forum (TCFF) is being held in Lamb County to assist local Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Agents in identifying the most critical issues affecting local citizens. Our local Extension program has a rich history of providing educational programs that address the most critical issues in the county, related to Agriculture and Natural Resources, Families and Health, Youth Development, and Community Development. To make sure that the programs being planned are on target, we invite your participation in the TCFF process.

The First Baptist Church of Amherst Celebrates 100 Year Anniversary

On the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the First Baptist Church in Amherst, Texas, Joy Cantrell presented the welcome to the congregation. Sue Ellen Priddy presented the history of the church: “One hundred years ago, March 23, 1924, marked the beginning of the First Baptist Church of Amherst.

State Sales Tax Revenue Totaled $3.7 Billion in February

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar today said state sales tax revenue totaled $3.69 billion in February, .05 percent more than in February 2023. The majority of February sales tax revenue is based on sales made in January and remitted to the agency in February.

Commissioners hold regular meeting Monday
